Ab 8:30 können hier die Tickets für die Vogelinsel Hornøya gekauft werden. Das Personal sehr sympathisch und auch immer für ein gutes Gespräch zu haben. Es gibt Informationen zum Ort, der Insel und auch Café, falls schlecht Wetter herrscht. Erhältlich sind auch Informationen für die Stellplätze, WCs und Internet.

Das Boot zur Vogelinsel legt ab 9:00 ab. Hin- und Rückfahrt kostet pro Person 630 NOK. Je nach Saison mind. 4 x am Tag. Die Insel ist definitiv ein Besuch wert. Die Papageientaucher habe ich im Mai auf Hornøya fotografiert.

Hier gibt es die Tickets für die Vogelinsel Hornøya. Kaffee und Tee. Einige Souvenirs, Toiletten und Internet. Die Fähre ist mit 630 NOK für Erwachsene nicht billig aber der Besuch der Insel lohnt sich.

Schön gemütlich eingerichtete Touristeninformation, in welcher man auch entspannt die Wartezeit bis zur Fähre überbrücken kann. Es gibt Kaffee und andere Getränke, sowie einige Flyer und Souvenire. Die Fähre zur Vogelinsel war jedoch recht teuer. Wir haben für zwei Erwachsene hin und zurück mehr als 1200 Kronen bezahlt. Dke Fährzeit haben sich geändert.

The office seems to be closed now due to covid-19. It is very difficult finding information about the boat to Hornøya that seems to be run by the tourist office/Vardø harbour. The people on the phones were friendly enough but wow, so confusing to figure out what is going on. Also not sure what the connection is between tourist info and the people who run the boat to Hornøya since the tourist office directed us to 'the guys on the boat'.

We planned a holiday especially to see Hornøya's birds and the week we were there the dock and the reserve dock on the island broke so it was not possible to visit. This was initially not shown on their social media page or website so we drove all the way to the harbour just to find the tourist office closed and the boat not running. When we phoned the office we were told about the broken docks. They had no idea when it would be fixed. No alternative trip options were mentioned.

I phoned again the next day and spoke to someone (the Vardø Harbour boat people/tourist info?) and asked if there was something like a tour around the island since it wasn't possible to dock. Initially a tour was available at 900 kroner per person. We were two people, and apparently the tourist office had 3 other people who wanted to join. Two hours later we were told that the other 3 guests had cancelled so if we wanted to take the boat tour, we would have to cover the total cost of 4750 kroner for two of us. This is the price listed on their website for a private 1 hour tour, fair enough. But it is very disappointing that they were not willing to offer an alternative tour or discounted price considering the docks were broken and the price for the normal 10 minute return trip to the island is 550 kroner per person.

After phoning around their website was finally updated to say that the boat was not running. Long story short, if you are planning a trip here, phone ahead! Ask all of the questions! Be prepared for broken docks and no alternative! Bring all of your money!
