Overall we had a wonderful experience. The hotel staff were all amazing and the chef was outstanding. The common areas of the lodge are beautiful, as is the view. Very beautiful hiking nearby. A few things to be aware of: the rooms on the view side of the lodge are tiny (the ones without a view are slightly bigger); the lodge is very isolated (no cafe or grocery store anywhere nearby); and getting there involves a ferry ride from Tromso so you have to plan accordingly.

The location for views and northern lights is perfection but what really makes this place special is the staff. All of them! They are welcoming, helpful, warm, competent, knowledgeable and kind. What more could you want? And if that isn’t enough the food is some of the best i have ever had. Michelin worthy!!!!!!!|I hope to be back.

All perfect! Super friendly staff, very comfortable, food was delicious. And the best part is the view of the sea and the mountains while you can enjoy the cosy common room with a fireplace

Lovely place to stay. The service was outstanding (special thanks to Tiina!)! They have a really nice sauna, with a great view and jacuzzi out side. The food was great and once again thanks Tiina for taking such a good care of us during our stay. Highly recommend to visit this lovely place.

This is one of the more amazing and interesting places I have stayed. The building itself is fairly basic; a comfortable utilitarian modern building on the edge of a fjord. It probably has great views but we were there in January and out on activities in the few daylight hours. There is a rather gorgeous private spa (you book and pay for a 90 minute slot) with an outdoor jacuzzi - soak in hot bubbles as the snow freezes your hair. But basically you need to book an activity for each day you’re here. We did whale watching which was amazing: A long trip in a luxurious cabin cruiser amid beautiful fjord scenery to a deep fjord where the whales feed. It was snowing and cold and quite rough, but we saw lots of whales - you’re inside a comfy boat and then go out on deck if you wish for the best photos. The food at the lodge is extraordinarily good. 4 course Michelin style meals personally served by the chef. Lots of fish, rich sauces, creative veg. Extraordinarily good wine list with some good white burgundies. The staff are all very very friendly and attentive. |I’m a workaholic with a busy job. After being here 24 hours I realised I was completely relaxed. I don’t remember when that last happened. So well worth it. Nice easyJet flight from Gatwick and we got their transfer - roads covered in snow though perfectly passable if you prefer to hire a car.

First off, the food, WOW, an amazing chef and worth the stay alone. Small rooms but efficient use of space. Nice lounge area/dining area overlooking the water and mountains. Super friendly and accommodating team. Fun experiences. Unique stay in an Aurora Hut (like a camper van). And lucked our with clear skies and solar activity resulting in 4+ hours of incredible northern lights! Exceeded expectations across the board. Thanks!

We didn’t think the lodge deserved 5 stars for our 4 night stay, despite the wonderful setting it enjoys looking onto the fjord. |We encountered quite a few issues.|We thought the food was poor, we apparently had a local chef for our stay who was really miserable and his food was always full of cream and butter, far too rich and samey.|The rooms were really tiny for the cost, very little room for luggage and they were far too hot as the room heater was broken and had to be fixed by an engineer. It was not just our room, other guests had complained. |Breakfast was table service but there was a lot of waste as they bought out the same things each day such as cured salmon, halibut and lamb, plus porridge, fruit and a choice of egg (they didn’t do poached) a nice touch however was a small loaf of bread baked in a tin for the table. |The staff were ok but seemed very young and inexperienced (apart from the sommelier Alton, who was great and the only person who really knew about customer service, and made dinner special) ||The weather was disappointing which can’t be helped but that meant a lot of the activities were not possible so the lodge tried to organise other things which were not good value for money or were not possible for some guests who were less fit. ||We did see the lights but had to take a 400km round trip with a guide to Finnish border which we proactively instigated with a guide for a chance to see the lights. ||On a positive note the guides were excellent Haakon took us to see the lights and a lovely hike to a lighthouse and Tiina a beautiful hike to the blue lake.
